Season 5 opens with Shane coming back to Heartland without his mom’s knowledge; Amy meeting a professional “liberty” horse trainer; Jack shanghaing Tim and taking him to Moosejaw to confront his Ex Girlfriend and son. Meanwhile Amy is left to confront Janice about how to train the new racehorse.
